UGC Pricing in India: Quote Worksheet and Earnings Examples

Build a UGC quote from deliverables, production time, costs, usage and revisions. See hypothetical INR examples and separate freelance fees from salary.

Quick answer

Price a UGC project from its deliverables, production time, direct costs, revisions, usage, and timeline. Separate asset creation from posting to your audience. Freelance project fees are not a fixed salary, and invoiced revenue is not the same as collected income or profit.

Key takeaways

  • Define the assets and usage before quoting one video price.
  • Include preparation, feedback, administration, and direct costs.
  • Treat the INR worksheet as an illustration, not market-rate data.
  • Track collected fees, unpaid work, costs, and capacity separately.

UGC pricing starts with the work and permission a client is buying. A single edited product demonstration, three alternative openings, and an advertising campaign using your identity are different assignments. Quoting all of them as “one video” makes the price difficult to defend and the delivery difficult to finish.

This is a quoting worksheet for freelance creators in India, not a salary survey or a rate card based on market research. All rupee amounts below are invented planning examples. Use actual production time, costs, client requirements, and commercial judgment to build your own proposal.

Separate UGC project fees from a salary

A salaried content role pays according to an employment arrangement. Freelance UGC usually brings project income, which can change with the number of accepted briefs, payment collection, production costs, and unpaid business development. A ₹10,000 invoice is neither a monthly salary nor ₹10,000 of profit.

Followers are not a complete pricing method. A client buying an asset to publish on its own channels is purchasing production and agreed usage. A client also buying a post to your audience is purchasing distribution too. Keep that second deliverable explicit; see the brand collaboration quote guide for campaign work.

Get these answers before naming a price

Scope itemQuestion for the clientHow it changes the work
AssetsHow many finished videos, stills, and alternate openings?Changes filming, editing, and review time
ProductionWho supplies the script, product, location, and approved claims?Changes research, setup, travel, and responsibility
FormatsWhat duration, orientation, captions, language, and export files?May require new edits or recordings
RevisionsWho approves, and how many feedback rounds are included?Sets the limit of the original assignment
UseOrganic posts, paid ads, website, retail, or other placements?Changes the permission being requested
TermFor how long, in which regions, and with what exclusivity?May limit other work or extend the commercial use
HandoffFinished exports only, or raw footage and project files too?Changes preparation, storage, and reuse expectations

“Unlimited use” needs clarification. Ask about channels, duration, editing permissions, use in paid advertising, and any requested reuse of your voice or likeness with AI. Do not assume a production fee resolves those questions. Have material rights terms reviewed by a qualified professional when needed.

Build the production part of the quote

Estimate the whole assignment: reading the brief, concept work, setup, filming, editing, feedback, export, and administration. Multiply estimated hours by your chosen planning rate, then add direct costs and separately agreed usage fees or additional deliverables. This gives you a cost-aware starting point, not proof that a buyer will accept it.

Hypothetical production worksheet for one vertical product demo
WorkEstimated hoursAt an illustrative ₹800/hour
Brief and concept1₹800
Setup and filming2₹1,600
Edit, captions, and export2₹1,600
One feedback round and administration1₹800
Total production time6₹4,800
Illustrative direct costs₹700
Production subtotal₹5,500

This subtotal excludes separately negotiated usage, extra deliverables, and applicable taxes. The ₹800 rate and ₹700 costs are assumptions for arithmetic, not a suggested beginner rate. If you need nine hours instead of six, update the plan rather than silently absorbing an expanding brief.

Explain options by scope, not vague package labels

Give a buyer a limited set of choices they can compare. For example, a single-demo option might include one concept, one final vertical video, and one consolidated edit round. A testing option might add two alternative openings to that same agreed concept. A monthly option should specify the actual number of concepts, assets, review windows, and booking commitments.

Do not discount a bundle just because it contains more items. Check whether it saves setup time. Three edits from one shoot may share preparation; three unrelated products may require three separate shoots. Explain which efficiency supports the quote.

Define a correction separately from a changed brief. Fixing a caption typo is different from replacing the approved concept or filming a new product. State how additional work is estimated and approved before it starts.

Use a clear proposal summary

Deliverables: [number, format, duration]. Production: [concept, filming, editing responsibilities]. Included feedback: [rounds and approver]. Usage requested: [channels, term, region, paid promotion, exclusivity]. Files: [final exports and any extras]. Timing: [start condition and deadlines]. Fee: [production, usage, extras, applicable tax treatment]. Payment: [stages and due dates]. Changes: [approval process].

Attach the agreed brief and specify when the schedule begins—for example, after the product, approved information, and required payment stage are received. Keep contact information and payment instructions consistent with the actual contracting business. The payment collection workflow covers how to connect a payment to the correct offer and reference.

Estimate income from collected work and capacity

Hypothetical month: four completed projects at ₹5,500 each produce ₹22,000 in invoiced project fees. If only three have been paid, collected fees are ₹16,500. If direct costs across all four projects are ₹2,800, collected cash less those costs is ₹13,700 before other expenses and taxes. That cash figure is not a formal profit calculation.

Also count the 24 production hours in this example and the time spent pitching, following up, and managing the business. Your calendar limits how many briefs you can deliver. Keep a separate record of invoices, collected payments, costs, and unpaid time so a busy month does not look more profitable than it is.

Protect the quality of the work you are quoting

Use original samples and describe your role honestly. A practice sample is useful evidence when clearly labelled; it is not a commissioned brand project. The UGC portfolio-to-first-brief guide explains how to build that proof.

For advertising in India, ASCI explains that material connections between brands and influencers should be disclosed. Check its influencer advertising guidance and relevant platform rules for the actual use. A paid script should not pretend to be an independent customer testimonial.

Finish each project by comparing estimated and actual hours, revision scope, payment timing, and what the client accepted. Use that evidence to improve your next quote. Neither a portfolio, a rate card, nor a listing on SYIE’s developing services offering guarantees work or a particular income.

FAQs

How much should a UGC creator charge in India?

There is no universal fee established by this guide. Estimate the agreed production work and costs, then price usage, extra deliverables, revisions, and timing separately where relevant. Validate the scope with the client.

Is UGC income the same as a monthly salary?

No. Freelance income depends on accepted projects, collected payments, costs, and capacity. A salary applies to an employment arrangement; a project invoice is not a salary or profit figure.

Should paid-ad usage be included in a UGC video quote?

State explicitly whether it is included. Agree channels, duration, region, editing permissions, and any use of the creator’s identity before pricing or delivering the work.

Are the rates in this article market averages?

No. The rupee amounts are invented examples used to explain arithmetic and proposal structure. They are not surveyed rates, recommendations, or expected earnings.
